It’s Spring!
I have a Book Buzz for you! I’d like to recommend the book It’s Spring authored by Linda Glaser and illustrated by Susan Swan.
Of course it is appropriate for this time of year and I feel the book perfectly encapsulates what spring is. It brings it alive and makes you want to get outside and experience the beauty portrayed in the book. The author’s love and appreciation of this season shines through beautifully. And best of all in the back of the book she gives lots of wonderful ways to make spring a hands-on experience outside! You know we like that! This book is intended for preschool/lower elementary, however I personally believe pictures books are great for ALL ages!
I also would like to mention the wonderful cut-paper artwork provided by Susan Swan. Over the last year I’ve come into a true appreciation for cut-paper art. Last year in February my older daughter and I had fun doing a cut-paper art project and also learned about Henri Matisse in the process. If you are not familiar with this form of art please find out more about it by reading about it in the back of the book, and don’t miss out on seeing more of Ms. Swan’s work at her website.
