Animal Signs
Animals are all around us even if we don’t see them! This unit will encourage the use of nature detective skills to see just who might be lurking around. You’ll find detective hunts, ideas for noting clues in your nature journal, and tips for keeping precise findings in the form of measurements and maps.
Learn how to preserve animal tracks, create your own tracks and bait your backyard. Research the history of animal tracking, compare animal clues and learn more about the predator prey relationship of animals in your area. Learn to think Biblically about the tracks you leave in this world, too.
Above are just a few of the ideas for investigations, projects, experiments and more that you’ll find in this unit, along with 14 super notebooking pages. If you have a child who loves detective and/or spy work, this unit should be right up his or her alley! We’ve found that children who aren’t natural detectives still get excited upon finding animal clues in nature!

Recommended Books and Such
These are links to specific titles that we have suggested where we ask you to do your own internet search because of copyright. We’re hoping this will be an acceptable compromise! There are often other books we have suggested to go along with the art, composer or poetry suggestions. They are already included in the “recommended book” section, so we chose not to link them again.
As always, if you come across a great link or additional idea for any of these areas, please let us know and we’ll add it right away!
