Wonderful Wildflowers

Aah, wildflowers. Just picturing them brings to mind a warm, sunny day, doesn’t it? God has created such an abundance of wildflowers for us to enjoy that you won’t want to miss this nature study unit!

Spring, summer or fall, once you start looking, you’ll be in awe of the huge variety of wildflowers growing everywhere – even in the crack of a sidewalk! The outdoor ideas in this unit will help you take the time to find as many of these beauties as possible. From completing scavenger hunts to taking your artist tools with you on a walk, you’ll find yourself joyfully observing each and every wildflower you find.

Once back inside, you can continue learning by dissecting a flower, building a flower press or even planning a wildflower garden for your own backyard. You might choose to research a wildflower’s life cycle, learn who pollinates the flowers, or find out about invasive wildflowers in your area.

As you start discovering the bountiful flower varieties in your area, we’re sure you won’t grow tired of finding new wildflowers on your nature walks. And with this unit, including 15 notebooking pages, you won’t run out of unique ideas for finding and studying wildflowers for quite some time!

These are links to specific titles that we have suggested where we ask you to do your own internet search because of copyright.  We’re hoping this will be an acceptable compromise!  There are often other books we have suggested to go along with the art, composer or poetry suggestions.  They are already included in the “recommended book” section, so we chose not to link them again.

As always, if you come across a great link or additional idea for any of these areas, please let us know and we’ll add it right away!
